Bower City Theatre Company will present Irving Berlins beloved musical White Christmas. Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS is a delightful new musical based on the 1954 smash hit Paramount movie. It tells the story of two army buddies, Bob and Phil, who have a successful song- and-dance act after the war. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters to a Christmas gig at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by their former Army commander. The boys soon realize they are the only guests at the resort because there is no snow! In order to help the General, they come up with a scheme to bring in a crowd. They decide to stage their newest Broadway revue, as well as make a special television appeal to all their Army pals to show up on Christmas Eve. The show features classic Irving Berlin hits such as "Blue Skies," "Sisters," "Happy Holiday," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," "I Love a Piano," and the unforgettable title song, "White Christmas."The production, directed by Jim Tropp will be presented December 9-18, 2011. ABOUT US JIM TROPP - ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Jim is excited to be directing Bower City TheatreCompany's productions at the JanesvillePerforming Arts Center. He has directed throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Some of his favorite credits include: RENT, West Side Story, Jekyll and Hyde, Annie, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, Cabaret, All Shook Up!, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, South Pacific , Shout the Mod Musical, The Sound of Music, The Fantasticks, and Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story. Jim will be directing this summers production of Hairspray for the School District of Janesville summer school program. He will also be directing the new musical Moses and the Burning Within for the Beloit Life Center (formally Faith Builders International Ministries) this September. Jim received two 2011 Tommy Awards for Outstanding Direction of a musical for Parker Highs School's productions of Happy Days and Into the Woods. He also directed the Parkview High School production of All Shook Up. He was Co-founder and President of Theatre Unlimited. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Janesville Performing Arts Center, Janesville Presents, Beloit Riverfest and Dance Theatre. Jim was instrumental in bringing Tony Bennett, Donny Osmond and Christopher Cross to JPAC. He lives in Beloit with his wife Jen.

Bower City Theatre Company presents the world's most beloved musical The Sound of Music. The Janesville Performing Arts Center will come alive with The Sound of Music during the holiday season. The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein is based on the book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. It features an unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein score, including My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi and Climb Every Mountain. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre.
